Federal Horse Slaughter Bill at Crucial Juncture
Notable, but temporary, protections for horses have recently been passed by the U.S. Congress. Your Action is Needed Now on H.R. 503, the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act. This federal bill would provide permanent protection for American horses by banning their slaughter for human consumption throughout the entire U.S. This bill is expected to be voted on the House floor before the July 4th weekend, meaning Congress could decide the fate of America’s horses very soon!

Rescued Calf Now Living the Good Life in Virginia
Harold was abandoned at a stockyard when he was just two weeks old. He would likely have died of neglect but for the kindness of a stranger who noticed his plight and could not bear to see him suffer. With the help of Farm Sanctuary’s dedicated team of caregivers, Harold fully recovered, and after spending nearly two happy months at our New York Shelter, he was adopted by a loving couple in Virginia. Now this very special calf has a place to call his own. Click below to read more. To learn more about our Farm Animal Adoption Network, click on the second link.

Farm Sanctuary is the nation’s leading farm animal protection organization. Since incorporating in 1986, we have worked to expose and stop cruel practices of the “food animal” industry through research and investigations, legal and legislative actions, public awareness projects, youth education, and direct rescue and refuge efforts. Our shelters in Watkins Glen, NY and Orland, CA provide lifelong care for hundreds of rescued animals, who have become ambassadors for farm animals everywhere by educating visitors about the realities of factory farming. For more information about Farm Sanctuary or our programs, please visit www.farmsanctuary.org or call 607-583-2225.
