If my camera was working, I’d snap a quick shot of O-Ren and share it with y’all. She’s snoozing on a pillow next to me and looks, well, cute. It’s only 88 in Kansas City with 40% humidity – pretty nice considering the weather we have been dealing with – but I think she’s still pooped from chasing the ball ’round the yard this morning.

So I guess this picture will have to do instead.

This was O-Ren when we first adopted her, in March of ’05: 5 pounds lighter, running at 25% her normal speed, and launching snot rockets all over the furniture. We took her to the vet as soon as the adoption papers were signed, and it just so happened that she had a nasty case of kennel cough. Poor girl! During that first week, we had to force Vicks NyQuil down her throat with a baby dropper every three hours on the dot. Naturally, most of it ended up on her face, and her snout was stained red before long. I was afraid she’d come to hate us before the week was over. But alas, she recovered, and of our three dogs, she’s probably the most attached to me. She’s kind of like a mini-Shadow (so named because she’s my mother’s shadow). So it’s all good.
