Speak Up for Endangered Species!
Help Ensure Strong Environmental Laws for Manatees and Other Endangered Species
The Bush administration is holding a series of “listening sessions” across the country as it promotes its “Cooperative Conservation” agenda. The administration has already proposed a package of cooperative conservation legislation (pdf) that would weaken the Endangered Species Act and the Clean Water Act, and they may use input from these listening sessions to promote these and other harmful changes to environmental laws. That’s why it’s vital for you to respond with a strong conservation message.
What You Can Do:
You can help by getting on the record as a supporter of a strong Endangered Species Act and other environmental laws. Please click here to submit a quick and easy online letter by September 30th. The letter will go to Beth Duff at the U.S. Department of the Interior and will let the Bush administration know that voluntary conservation efforts complement, but absolutely cannot replace, strong environmental laws. If you would like to submit a personal letter or email, Ms. Duff’s contact information is featured below.
If you’ve been involved in a local cooperative effort to protect endangered species, you can speak from personal experience about how environmental protections brought people in your community together to conserve natural resources. These stories will greatly increase the strength of your comments.
2. Attend a Listening Session In Your Area
You can also click here to check for listening sessions in your area that you may be able to attend in person. Listening sessions for Florida are scheduled for September 15 in Virginia Key and on September 25, 2006 in Orlando.

[...] The blog is not very old, just about 3-4 months, but she updates frequently. Kelly mostly makes 2-3 posts everyday and sometimes even more. Wondering how she manages? Read more. The posts (not all, but most of them) generally revolve around taking some actions. For example: Signing petiton to save Tasmania’s Forests or Submitting an comment letter for saving the manatee (an endangered species). [...]
