Kentucky Animal Cruelty should be a FELONY
Recently Buddy, an American Pit Bull Terrier, was taken from his family under false pretenses. While Buddy was with 34-year-old William Tod Bowlds he was murdered. Buddy was chained to the back of a pick up truck. Buddy gave all his heart and soul trying to keep up with the truck as he was pulled to his death. The murder left bloody paw prints and marks where the dog was dragged to death. [Read more...]
Michigan animal cruelty law change!
In response to the story in the Muskegon Chronicle, “Police say renter left animals in a death house” dated Tuesday March 13, 2007 we request a change in Michigan State law, Duty to provide adequate care provision. Citation: MCL750.50 We feel acts upon animals like this should be able to be prosecuted as a felony the first time. We feel this is inexcusable as well as willful. Acts like this will not stop as long as people are allowed to basically walk free. [Read more...]
ACT QUICKLY 187 ANIMAL ABUSE charges to be plea bargained
This is a horrific case of hoarding and animal cruelty uncovered in October 2005 — Rehnee Harvey and her ex-husband Terry were charged with 187 – Yes! 187! counts of animal cruelty. They had a pseudo animal rescue in Kingston, Tennessee (Roane County) by the name of Angel Wings. This animal abuser/hoarder accepted money as well as animals from people who wished to support her so-called animal rescue which in fact turned out to be an animal nightmare instead. Trial was set for August 11, 2006 – but never happened. Now they are scheduled for a hearing on March 27, 2007. [Read more...]
KICKED,SQUEEZED SMALL CHIHUAHUA MIX UNTIL THE DOG’S EYES POPPED OUT AND FRACTURED SKULL
A horrific animal abuse case took place in Lexington, VA recently. According to the Rockbridge Weekly, Robert Carini was arrested after allegedly admitting to kicking and squeezing, a small Chihuahua mix, until its eye popped out, and it’s skull was fractured. He pulled on both the upper and lower jaw at the same time until it’s skull was fractured and pressed so hard that one eye popped out. He kicked the dog until it was covered with feces and urine and almost dead. The small dog was euthanized after being picked up by an ACO. Carini was arrested on a misdemeanor. After countless calls were made, those charges were dropped and he has now been arrested on felony animal cruelty charges. [Read more...]
Animals As Food
We demand a stop to all whaling immediately, we believe it is an inhumane and unnecessary act. We believe whale watching is a much better alternative. [Read more...]
Animals As Pests
In the U.S., more cats are intentionally killed than die of any other cause. But this doesn’t have to be the case. Virtually every feral cat that enters a shelter or animal control facility is killed. The very system that is supposed to care about the welfare of animals is, in fact, subjecting them to a ruthless policy of extermination. [Read more...]
Stop ‘Terrorism’ against Man’s Best Friend in Bangalore
In what can be termed as one of the most inhumane acts by human animals in Indian soil, the Bangalore City Corporation has ordered a drive to round up and cull homeless dogs. The killings and capture of Dogs continues. Following the tragic death of a child after it was mauled by some dogs in the suburbs of Bangalore city, all it took was just a knee jerk reaction by the authorities in Bangalore city to start a drive of ‘Terror’ against the homeless dog population in the city and some parts of the state of Karnataka. PROTEST CHINA’S BARBARIC KILLING OF PET DOGS
We can not ignore the continued horrific cruelty China continues to perpetuate on PETS. Do you realize how much you buy that is “Made in China”? Use your power to BOYCOTT these products until China shows humane treatment of dogs and cats. Contact the Embassy with your OUTRAGE. How sick must someone be to bludgeon a dog to death? If a society has a fear of rabies, they vaccinate, not kill. What would the repercussions be if those with a fear of a human illness, killed every person in their wake? [Read more...]
China’s campaign to kill all pet dogs
Thousands of dogs will be culled in a Chongqing district following the death of a resident from rabies last month. The Wanzhou district government has issued a directive asking residents in
the central city area to have their dogs put down before March 15. Exemptions are government department guard dogs, and those kept by research institutions, the military and for commercial purposes. The government will cull the dogs, whether they are vaccinated or not, if the residents do not do so before the deadline. Owners will be fined between 200 yuan and 1,000 yuan for every dog found after that date. [Read more...]
Santa Clara County Low Cost Spay/Neuter Program
I support the Town Cats petition regarding the county of Santa Clara low cost spay/neuter program. Furthermore, I request that the Gilroy City Council assist in allocating a small portion of city funds to supplement Santa Clara County resources to continue this countywide low-cost spay/neuter program. The Santa Clara spay/neuter program is important for many reasons. This program not only ultimately reduces costs to Santa Clara County Animal Control, but it is also a humane way to manage animals in our community. I understand that as of today, neither Gilroy nor Morgan Hill have responded to the Santa Clara County’s request to contribute (based proportionately on each city’s usage) to the Santa Clara spay/neuter program. I ask for your support in responding with a yes to Gilroy’s participation in this program. [Read more...; and see second petition, here]

Energy – what we use, where we get it and how we use it – is one of the biggest challenges of this century. How America solves this problem will affect our health and environment, our economic well-being and our security. America faces an urgent energy challenge – but there are changes we can make and actions we can take now! Give Up Something That Contributes to Global Warming For Lent!
The season of Lent is not only a Christian time of personal sacrifice, but it is now observed by many Americans as a time to “give up” something to make the world a better place. Lent is the perfect time for you to make a change in your life to fight global warming. [Read more...]
Save 222 acres of Wet Lands of Cahokia Mounds
What would public opinion be if Egypt wanted to put a large landfill/garbage dump next to the Pyramids? A garbage dump is proposed next to another World Heritage Site: Cahokia Mounds located just east of St Louis in Illinois. Not only would it impact an American Indian Site which is significant to the World, it would also destroy 222 acres of floodplain/wetlands [St Louis District Corps Permit application: P2476]. Support the Proposed Ban on Plastic Grocery Bags
Help encourage San Francisco to lead the way in reducing global warming emissions by banning plastic grocery bags – and other cities may do the same. The Board of Supervisors have proposed a ban on plastic bags for large grocers in San Francisco. If this law were passed, large stores would have to offer customers bags made of recycled paper, plastic that can be composted or bags that can be reused. Violators would be required to pay a fine. The city’s own Mayor, Gavin Newsom, endorses this bill. [Read more...]
Keep Millions of Tons of Mountaintop Mining Waste Out of Our Waterways
Millions of tons of debris from mountaintop removal (a radical form of coal mining in which entire mountaintops are literally blown up) are being dumped into nearby streams. Since 1977, The Clean Water Act allowed industries to dump small amounts of “fill material” into waterways as long as they were not using them as a place to dispose of industry waste. But in 2002, the Bush Administration redefined “fill material” to include mining waste, which means that mining companies can dump the mountains they are destroying directly in to our streams and rivers! Remove USDA Undersecretary Mark Rey
Bush administration appointee Mark Rey, a life-long lobbyist for the timber industry, has been the U.S. Forest Service as Undersecretary of Agriculture for Natural Resources & Environment. Rey since October 2, 2001. Despite (or because of) his career-long involvement in anti-environmental, pro-industry and pro-development causes, including preventing implementation of the “Roadless Rule” during the Clinton Administration and positions such as comparing clear-cut logging as “compatible with rain forest ecology”, the Bush Administration placed him in a sensitive position from which he could forward their business-friendly, but environmentally disastrous, policies regardless of the damage caused to our national forests. We love you, Starbucks. But we hate your cups. From all of us that love you, please start: 1) Using compostable bio cups or fully recylcable cups (with in-store recycling bins); 2) Offering cheap Starbucks travel mugs ($3 or less) available at your stores to prompt more reuseage; 3) Giving larger discounts on using travel mugs (25 cents is a start! And more if you use a Starbucks mug!). [Read more...]
