Eagles’ owner loaned Eagle to a casual acquaintance a few years ago. When this man contacted the owner saying he no longer wanted the horse, the owner directed the man to shoot the horse as he had no where for him. The man intervened on Eagles behalf and rather than shoot Eagle, found him a home. Much later Eagle was found staggering down the highway, emaciated and near death. At the request of the Irondale police this time TEARS intervened on Eagle behalf. We brought the 35 year old horse to the conditions you see here. Sadly during this process, the owner found that TEARS was attempting to save the horse. [Read more...; Story here]
GAS CHAMBER ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER NEEDS TO GO TO PRISON
The Lee County dog pound is temporarily closed after Animal Control Officer Wayne Martin was indefinitely suspended on Wednesday. The suspension is “effective until we can make a determination if further action is necessary,” said the sheriff. Parsons said the Wednesday visit by the state vet’s office was a follow-up visit to a routine inspection visit about two weeks ago during which the worker found issues that had been discussed with Martin. On Wednesday, the worker determined that animals were not being properly euthanized, the sheriff said. [Read more...]
Animals As Pets
We, the undersigned, hereby declare a boycott against all Menu Foods products. We understand the company erred unintentionally by selling contaminated food for dogs and cats. However, we find it cruel that the company tested its product by feeding the food to additional cats and dogs, which, as of Tuesday, March 20, 2007, resulted in the death of at least 10 animals. We believe it was a cruel and poor decision to “fix” this problem by intentionally feeding this contaminated food to additional animals. We believe Menu Foods should have considered other options and, under no circumstances, should have concluded the appropriate action would be to feed the contaminated food to additional animals. Demand Car Companies Shift Gears – Support Improved Fuel Efficiency
When Fortune 500 companies have called for national action, and new scientific evidence of global warming’s toll is presented everyday, the need for a national cap on global warming pollution has never been stronger.
