Justice for Zoe – Deranged GA. Man Shoots Dog 12 Times With A Silencer!
In the central Georgia town of Byron, a man has been charged with felony cruelty to animals. Police say he shot a neighbor’s 8-month-old puppy 14 times. (Petition Authors interjection: A silencer was used for 12 of those shots, which is why no one heard anything, but the last 2 deadly shots were without the silencer). [Read more…]
Animals As Food
This petition is for the people who want to stop the cruelty done at KFC. KFC is one of the most cruelest buisnesses out there, killing baby chicks when barely 2 months old, de-beaking chickens with out an anesthetic, dipping them in scalding water for de-feathering, and finally slitting their throats after pain and torture. Animals As Game
Members of the National Trust have voted to relax their rules on hunting on Exmoor. If the vote is adopted as trust policy, hunts will be able to follow sick or injured deer on to their land to kill the animal. Trust members voted to allow hunting of stags at the Holnicote Estate, which forms much of Exmoor. This is not on. Why should injured and upset deer be allowed to be tracked down and torn to bits by hounds? [Read more…]
Animals As Pests
The Forest Service wants to make it easier to poison and kill prairie dogs on the American plains — risking creatures like burrowing owls, hawks, swift fox, the critically endangered black-footed ferret and the complex balance of life on the American Prairie. Widespread poisoning could kill tens of thousands of prairie dogs, which would jeopardize the continued recovery of the critically imperiled black-footed ferret, the most endangered mammal in North America. Stop China from the continuing slaughter of dogs and cats
China has citizens there and people on every continent up in arms over China’s mandate to the residents to turn in their dogs to police no later than March 16th. After that date, if dogs are not turned in they will be taken by police-force. The pets along with every stray are going to be slaughtered to what they believe will eliminate the city’s rabies problem. The saddest part of this story is it has been going on for quite some time. Celebrate Adopt-a-Shelter Cat Month!
June is Adopt-a-Shelter Cat month. What better way to celebrate the furry felines in our lives than to say thank you to the local animal shelters that care for these precious pets? Please join us in sending a big, furry “thank you!” to the Houston SPCA, awarded the “Shelter of the Year” award by the ASPCA for 2006. [Read more…]
Township Of Union, NJ Animal Shelter 30 Day Euthanasia Policy

Stop media attacks on all pit bulls
Recently in the news there was a very sad story of a woman who was killed by her chow/lab mix dog, when news coverage just started on this the station showed a picture of a pit bull while stating “Owner killed by own dog” If the dog is not a pit bull why are they posting a picture of one other than to further terrify people against this breed. Animals As Research Subjects
On 22 and 23 May 2007, Professor R.P.V.J. Rajapakse, Head, Department of Veterinary Parasitology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science of the University of Peradeniya, adopted 3 dogs from KACPAW shelter for destitute dogs, saying the dogs were being taken to loving homes…On 28th May 2007 KACPAW’s members discovered to their horror that Professor Rajapakshe had not taken any of the dogs he adopted to the homes as he made them believe at the time of adoption, but instead taken them straight away to the Government Veterinary Hospital at Gatambe, where extensive invasive surgery had been carried out on all three dogs on 22 May 2007 and 23 May 2007 by Dr. Wasantha Kumara, the Veterinary Surgeon who heads the Hospital. Dissection is cruel and really has no purpose. “Real Hands On Experience” can be achieved in many different ways besides having to cut open a poor defense-less little creature. Instead students could use a computer program, a three-dimensional diagram, or just read about it in a book. The need for actually dissecting the animals is no longer because of the increase in our society’s technology. [Read more…]
Wildlife Conservation & Environmental Issues
Save the Elephant Habitat in Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve
In the Nilgiris Eastern Ghat Elephant Reserve, part of Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve and proposed Sathyamangalam Wildlife Sanctuary, a railway line would pass through 58 km of dense forest area requiring 30 meters on either side from the centerline of the track all along the length of the proposed railway line in forest area for about 58 km. That includes approach road to track space for collection of ballast and for any emergency recoupment of materials near the track passing through erstwhile Veerappan territories like Talawadi, Gattawadi and bannari. On completion, the railway line would have 277 bridges, 138 curves and 61 tunnels. Imagine about the men and machinery that will move into this elephant habitat once the construction works get started (even the survey work requires `felling of trees of spontaneous growth in meager level wherever is necessary). Say No to Mining in Alaska’s Pristine Bristol Bay!
A Canadian mining corporation wants to create one of North America’s largest open pit gold and copper mines in the heart of Alaska’s Bristol Bay – a wonderland of fish-filled lakes, rivers and streams – home to some of the last great wild salmon runs and rainbow trout. At the core of Pebble Mine, covering some 15 square miles, would be an open pit measuring about two miles long, a mile and a half wide and 1,700 feet deep. Over its period of operation, the mine would produce an estimated 3 billion tons of waste! [Read more…]
Demand Real “Clean Truck” Standards for California
As the nation’s busiest port complex, the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach anchor a profitable $300-billion-per-year business. These Ports must set a new direction for the entire goods movement industry in California and across the country — which will save California lives and tax dollars. All Californians are paying for the billions in health costs attributable to pollution from the Ports — which are responsible for more deadly diesel soot and smog each day than 6 million cars, and contribute to cancer, childhood asthma and more than 2,400 premature deaths/year. Setting the Example for Global Warming
When House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-San Francisco, held a pre-Earth Day news conference last week to promote her plans to “Green the Capitol,” she promised a number of steps to make the congressional campus a model of environmentalism. But, surrounded by boxes of energy-efficient compact fluorescent lightbulbs she wants to install in 12,000 desk lamps, she became conspicuously vague when asked about the pair of towering smokestacks four blocks away. Our leaders in Washington should be leading by example. Thats why they were put there and THAT IS WHAT THEY NEED TO DO! [Read more…]
