PETITION TO END THE SUFFERING OF ELEPHANTS IN CIRCUSES,ZOOS AND AMUSEMENT PARKS
It has become increasingly more evident to the public over the last decade and in the past few years due to the premature deaths of many elephants in captivity, that elephants in circuses and zoos needs are not being met. In fact, in many cases the elephants are suffering from stress and medical conditions directly related to lack of exercise, being kept in tiny enclosures, lack of socialization, and even abuse, (such as in the case of circuses that use “bull-hooks” to train the elephants). Some of these medical conditions include, arthritis and foot diseases, unnatural behaviors such as head bobbing and swaying back and forth due to boredom and frustration, and premature deaths. Elephants normally live to be between 60 to 70 years old. Many elephants have died an untimely and miserable death after years of suffering at about half that life span. For example, at the Los Angeles Zoo alone, 13 elephants have died premature deaths. [Read more...]

Millions of sharks a year have their fins removed and are haphazardly thrown back into the sea for shark fin soup, a gelatinous, unflavored “delicacy”. The main point of this petition is to prevent sharks from being slaughtered by having their fins knived off, and then being discarded into the sea to be eaten alive by sea creatures or painfully dying from loss of blood. Tell Safeway Not to Sell Destructive Farmed Salmon
Farmed salmon from Safeway may seem like a bargain, but the cost to the health of our oceans and future of wild salmon is outrageous! Salmon farms infect wild fish with parasites and diseases and escaped farm fish compete with wild salmon for food and habitat. Last spring, a senior Safeway executive toured parts of British Columbia where scientists have linked sea lice from salmon farms with devastating population losses of wild pink and chum salmon runs. This spring conditions are worsening. Scientists are reporting that 80 to 90 percent of juvenile wild Pink salmon are carrying lethal loads of sea lice. Salmon farms need to clean up their act! STRAY dogs are being skewered on hooks and dragged behind boats as live shark bait The cruel practice takes place on French-controlled Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean A six-month-old labrador pup was recently found ALIVE with a huge double hook through its snout and another through a leg The pup was found in a coastal creek and is thought to have somehow freed itself from a fishing line.But other dogs and kittens have been chomped up and swallowed by sharks. Converting all US farmland to organic would cut CO2 emissions by 10%.
