Subject: The Prosecutor Speaks: How the Galveston Cruelty Trials Helps Protect Feral Cats

There has been much incorrect and conflicting information about the Galveston cat-killing trial. To set the record straight, Alley Cat Allies went to the source and interviewed the prosecutor, Assistant District Attorney Paige Santell.

As you read in an earlier Feral Power!, James Munn Stevenson went on trial for felony animal cruelty on November 12, 2007, after shooting a feral cat with a .22 caliber rifle.

For those of us who care for stray and feral cats, State v. Stevenson is an important reminder that the lives of these animals are protected under state laws.
