Audubon: Ecosystem Restoration Funding in Jeopardy
Restoration of some of America’s most spectacular ecosystems is in the Senate’s hands. The committee in charge of funding ecosystem restoration projects will having a hearing this week this week. Please write to your Senator and urge her or him to help restore America’s natural resources by fully funding ecosystem restoration in fiscal year 2009.

When Igor Kisil went to pick up his Burmese cat, Nusha, from a grooming session at Furs, Fins, and Feathers on Fourth Avenue in Brooklyn, the groomer—Bechir Bejaoui—reportedly handed the horrified Kisil a plastic bag containing his beloved companion animal. According to reports, Nusha’s face was drenched in blood and her eyes were discharging liquid.

Residents of Chillicothe, Ohio—desperate to get help for three adult pit bulls and at least four puppies who were reportedly denied adequate food, water, and shelter—contacted PETA for help. According to the complainants, all that these animals had for “shelter” was garbage cans. Even worse, a mother pit bull—who is horribly emaciated and giving her all to keep her puppies alive—has been seen rummaging through garbage in order to survive.
