Audubon: Help Save Our Migratory Birds!
Each spring, millions of birds travel thousands of miles from Latin America and the Caribbean to their breeding grounds as far north as the Arctic. Months later, as the temperature drops and winter sets in, these migrants make the long trip back to warmer southern climates. These neotropical migrants face increasing threats—habitat loss, invasive species, disease, and a changing climate. Since its inception in 2002, the Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act has provided millions of dollars for vital conservation efforts, including monitoring efforts, habitat restoration, education, and other projects in the United States, Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean. But many essential conservation projects remain unfunded.

Farm Sanctuary: Action Needed NOW on Federal Horse Slaughter Bill
After passing through the Congressional House Judiciary Committee on Sept. 23, H.R. 6598, the Prevention of Equine Cruelty Act, may be voted on by the full House of Representatives at any time. This federal bill will stop the slaughter of American horses, a cruel practice that continues in Mexico and Canada.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA): Tell the FTC that Motomco’s Glue Trap Labels are Misleading
We need your help in urging the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to take action against a rodent-control company. PETA has filed a complaint against Motomco Inc. over misleading statements made on its packaging. Motomco produces a glue trap that contains eugenol, a substance that the company calls, “A Natural Anesthetic.” This claim would lead consumers to believe that the additive alleviates any pain and suffering experienced by animals caught in these traps. However, no scientific evidence exists to support the claim that low doses of eugenol applied topically could have any anesthetic affect on mice or rats ensnared by the relentless adhesive.

Save Our Environment.org: Urge Congress to Say No to Oil Shale
Right now, Congress is considering a proposal to end a moratorium on development of oil shale – a dangerous, new energy source which would threaten two million acres of America’s public lands! Some members of Congress want to rush us into developing oil shale despite the reality that it will put millions of acres of wildlife habitat at risk, threaten a significant portion of our country’s water resources and dramatically increase global warming pollution.

Farm Sanctuary: Support Farm Sanctuary’s Party for the Pigs: A benefit for the survivors of the Midwest flood disaster
In June of this year, Farm Sanctuary mobilized in Iowa to take part in one of the most ambitious farm animal rescues ever undertaken, after thousands of pigs were left to die in the Midwest flood disaster. During both land and water rescue operations, 69 pigs were rescued, including many pregnant sows who were once confined to gestation crates on factory farms. Now, these pigs, many of whom are still suffering from serious health problems, are at Farm Sanctuary receiving urgent care and undergoing rehabilitation. On October 18, Farm Sanctuary will honor these survivors of the Midwest floods and raise critically needed funds for their care.
