About

The easyVegan Link Sanctuary is a near-daily roundup of animal and environmental advocacy news, action alerts, carnivals, events and resources. This link roundup is meant as a jumping-off point for you, the reader, to take further action and learn more about the issues presented here. I link, you decide!

If you have a link you’d like included, please drop me a line at easyvegan [at] gmail.com – or leave it in the comments! Feedback is also appreciated, particularly as it relates to the links included below. I’ve tried my best to identify and name any speciesism, sexism, racism, classism, homophobia, sizeism, etc. which may appear in the resources below; if, however, I’ve overlooked something, please leave a note in the comments. It’s not my desire to fight one form of oppression by engaging in another.

Action Alerts

CREDO Action: Host an End of Bush Party
Thanks for your interest in hosting a End of Bush Party. We know there are lots of CREDO members & activists ready to come together and celebrate the end of the Bush era. We want to help — so that’s why, if your event has online signups from ten or more email addresses, CREDO will reimburse up to $100 of your party expenses.

Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC): Tell the EPA to keep toxic perchlorate out of our drinking water
The EPA has decided not to regulate perchlorate levels in drinking water, even though this toxic chemical poses dangerous risks to pregnant women and infants. Tell the EPA to keep perchlorate out of our drinking water before the November 10th comment deadline.

The Sierra Club: Protect the Gray Wolf
Just weeks after abandoning its disastrous delisting of gray wolves in the Rocky Mountains, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has announced new plans to take them off the endangered species list! Less than a month remains to submit comments urging the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to slow down and act in the best interests of these wild creatures, which is to keep them on the endangered species list.

Campaign Updates

In Defense of Animals (IDA): Fur Free Friday 2008 Update
Make plans to act for fur-bearing animals on November 28; Fur Free Friday, the world’s largest and oldest anti-fur demonstration, takes place the day after Thanksgiving every year. Join IDA and activists throughout the world as we urge shoppers to never buy fur, stores to stop selling fur, and media fashion writers to reveal the truth behind fur.

Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM): Grey’s Anatomy Doctors Trained on Live Animals
Last Thursday night’s episode of the television hit Grey’s Anatomy featured a subplot in which live pigs were stabbed, and then interns and residents were told to treat the injured animals as part of a trauma training exercise. (Note: No real pigs were used in the filming of the episode.) Nancy Heigl, PCRM supporter and the mother of actress Katherine Heigl, who plays Dr. Izzie Stevens on the show, contacted us when the story line was being developed because the actress was disturbed by the subplot. PCRM president Neal Barnard, M.D., and PCRM senior medical and research adviser John Pippin, M.D., F.A.C.C., both had extensive conversations with the producers of the show about the overwhelming trend in medical education to use simulators instead of animals in medical education.

  1. skippy Says:

Because the estimates are now up to 10 million dogs and cats are killed every year and dumped into the lanfill. Why haven’t any of you thought about the damage you are doing to the United States. Theres e-coli coming from the landfills from the 10 million dogs and cats that all of you have poisoned. When do you think the drug used to kill those animals will show up in your drinking and bath water. What are you doing you have no compassion for the human race. I hope the EPA hauls all of you to jail.. Talk to the PEOPLE who are in the hospital because of your actions. We are talking about e-coli poisoning the water, poisoning people.
