Choices.

This Thursday, you have choices – the most obvious of which, is the choice between consuming this

and this.

Your choice isn’t just between different types of food; rather, when you choose your Thanksgiving day meal, you’re also choosing between this

and this.

This

or this.

This

or this.

Compassion, mercy, respect and life…or cruelty, abuse, environmental destruction and death. It’s your choice.

Of course, it’s a decision you face every day, usually multiple times. Replacing you Thanksgiving turkey (or similar sentient non-human animal) is just the start of many compassionate choices to come.

And yet, there’s something especially gruesome about celebrating the genocide of millions of Native Americans with the genocide of millions of turkeys.

Please, choose compassion this holiday season – and all year round.

The Thanksliving Day menu at the Garbato-Brady house includes a roasted Tofurky, basted with a maple-cider glaze (adapted from this non-veg version) and surrounded by baked potatoes and carrots; stuffing with carrots; cranberry dumplings; garlic mashed potatoes; and a deep-dish apple pie topped with vanilla soy ice cream.

Here are some vegan recipe ideas to get you started, along with a few animal-friendly gift ideas.
