Here's a correction/retraction UFW sent out today:

Last Friday we sent you an e-mail about Kerschenman Enterprises where three courageous Bakersfield grape workers spoke up for their rights and were fired.

In the action alert, UFW incorrectly identified Brian Kerschenmann and Kerschenmann Farms as responsible for the alleged discriminatory discharges. In fact, Kerschenman Enterprises should have been identified as responsible for alleged discriminatory discharges. UFW apologizes to Brian Kerschenmann and to Kerschenmann Farms for the error, which was inadvertent.

This was an honest error. Kerschenman Enterprises produces potatoes, grapes and other crops. An internet search produced an Kerschenmann.com e-mail address from a potato seminar. We made a phone call to the phone number one of the workers gave us for Kerschenman Enterprises and asked if a Brian Kerschenmann worked there. The receptionist said yes.

We want to apologize to you for this and at the same time assure you that your message is going to get through to Kerschenman Enterprises. We have turned the letters into a petition that the workers plan to personally hand deliver to the owner of Kerschenman Enterprises.

We thank you for your continued support and want to let you know that new procedures are being put into place to prevent this situation from happening again.

Again thank you for continuing Cesar’s fight for farm workers.

Si Se Puede!

Katie, I apologize for any inconvenience I may have inadvertently caused. Certainly, I always encourage readers to remain polite and respectful, as do many of organizations whose alerts I link to. I hope the abusive communications were in the minority.

Thank you so very much. We are hoping our lives may resume to normal. Our lives have been hell since this UFW post. We have received threats by phone and by email. This is so sad, particularly since we support the UFW. We do everything we can to do what is right for our employees. We provide health insurance and 401K plans, we are not the norm and take great pride in taking care our employees, especially during these economic times. Saddest of all, the UFW has done a disservice to the workers that were harmed financially by the other farm. Their accurate story is no where to be found on the UFW website. Their plight has been damaged too.

Kirschenmann Farms is not the farm involved in the lawsuit listed in the post above. PLEASE REMOVE THIS POST IMMEDIATELY. The UFW acted in error when citing Kirschenmann Farms in their call to action. This is incorrect information. UFW have since removed the link and taken down the page your referencing in your post. Continuing to the post this information damages Kirschenmann Farms while letting the real culprits slither under the radar. PLEASE REMOVE THIS POST! Thank you.
