Let me start by saying you all are brave and embody the Australian spirit. As an Australian now living abroad, it was heart breaking to watch from a far the devastation of my homeland. I was born and raised in Morwell; a town about 10 km from Churchill. The fires in the area threatened my hometown. Fortunately, it was spared. Unfortunately, a lot of country towns that my family frequented every year are no longer there. Every year when it snowed we would go to Marysville and have a fun day. Seeing the images of Marysville shocked me to my core. I am so sorry to every one that lived and worked there. The 10 years that we had been going to your town and giving y’all our business is now gone. I am sorry. I can only hope that you rebuild so when I return to Australia to visit, Marysville will be better than ever. I am sorry that I was unable to help in this tragedy. I am also sorry that I am unable to donate money to help the victims. The fess to cash my check will leave nothing left for the victims. I am truly sorry. My sympathy goes out to all of you that lost family, friends, or beloved pets in the blaze. I only hope that y’all find the strength to pull your lives back together and go one. If I could I would have a memorial dedicated to all that perished in the blaze. Including family pets. I also want to thank every one who help fight the fires. I have an uncle who is a member of the CFA. I understand how difficult it must have been; but I have no idea how this tragedy effect the fighters. Thanks for your selfless hard work. I am not sure who will see this, but after reading all the inspiration stories of every day Australians selflessly helping the helpless, I just had to say all of this. Please feel free to pass my word on to any one you fell may benefit from my words. Thanks for reading. Again I am sorry to y’all. You ALL are truly Australian heroes and should be acknowledged as such.
