I’m playing it lazy today with this survey from Whoa Wren. Maybe some day I’ll graduate to starting my very own meme. Until then…

1. Favorite non-dairy milk?

Silk Pumpkin Spice; it’s the only soy milk I’ll drink straight (all else I only use in baking/cooking).

2. What are the top 3 dishes/recipes you are planning to cook?

Green tea cupcakes from Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World. Beyond that, who knows.

3. Topping of choice for popcorn?

Garlic salt.

4. Most disastrous recipe/meal failure?

Not counting the occasional accident with meals I frequently make (e.g., overcooking pasta into a gooey much): Lemon cookies.

5. Favorite pickled item?


6. How do you organize your recipes?

Online: delicious.

ITRW: all my cookbooks occupy one shelf in the pantry.

7. Compost, trash, or garbage disposal?

All of the above. See also: dogs.

8. If you were stranded on an island and could only bring 3 foods…what would they be (don’t worry about how you’ll cook them)?

Pizza, pasta and Ronald’s donuts.

9. Fondest food memory from your childhood?

Grinding taters for potato pancakes…in the family’s hand-me-down, so-retro-it’s-antique meat grinder! (I know, right.)

10. Favorite vegan ice cream?

Just about anything from Turtle Mountain’s Purely Decadent line, but especially Blueberry Cheesecake, Key Lime Pie, Cherry Nirvana and Cookie Dough. (Bah, now I’m starting to sound like a Yoplait commercial, aren’t I?)

11. Most loved kitchen appliance?

Ice cream maker!

12. Spice/herb you would die without?


13. Cookbook you have owned for the longest time?

1000 Classic Recipes. It’s so not vegan, though.

14. Favorite flavor of jam/jelly?


15. Favorite vegan recipe to serve to an omni friend?

For dinner: lasagna.

Dessert: Vivacious Vegan’s Best Brownies Ever.

Not fancy, but also not risky. I prefer the safe bet when trying to win converts.

16. Seitan, tofu, or tempeh?

Tofu, silken.

17. Favorite meal to cook (or time of day to cook)?

Breakfast, since I usually do it quickly and mindlessly.

18. What is sitting on top of your refrigerator?

A basket of miscellaneous meds – mostly cold and allergy stuff.

19. Name 3 items in your freezer without looking.

Homemade and Purely Decadent ice cream; frozen strawberries; and about 5 bags of pita bread (the Mr. snags the leftovers when his office hosts lunches catered by the Middle Eastern cafe down the street; we use ’em to make pita pizzas).

20. What’s on your grocery list?

Not much, since we went shopping not two days ago. Acne cream, raspberry preserves and bagels, at last count.

21. Favorite grocery store?

Whole Foods. Original, I know, but there aren’t many choices in KC.

22. Name a recipe you’d love to veganize, but haven’t yet.

Mac & cheese. We’re on a neverending quest for THE vegan recipe.

23. Food blog you read the most (besides Isa’s because I know you check it everyday). Or maybe the top 3?

I scan a ton for recipes, but if I had to pick one a food blog that I actually sit down and read…vegansaurus?

24. Favorite vegan candy/chocolate?

Goldenberg’s Dark Chocolate Peanut Chews.

25. Most extravagant food item purchased lately?

Follow Your Heart cheese sure isn’t cheap!

26. Ingredients you are scared to work with?

Jalapenos. I have a delicate palate.
