That said, the HSUS was more recently involved in a fundraising scandal in which it solicited donations using the story and likeness of a dog who was being cared for by another (much smaller) group entirely. You can read about the HSUS’s co-option of Fay here. IMHO, the HSUS really should be prosecuted for fraud in this case.

As with PETA, the HSUS does some good work. Unfortunately, for the above reasons and many, many more, I cannot support the group; to me, the bad far outweighs the good, and there are plenty of more honest, animal-friendly groups that can benefit from my time and money. Plus, it’s fundamentally a welfare group, whereas I’m an animal rights advocate.
