With Google Reader dead and buried, I was wondering how I’d manage to navigate the hundreds (thousands?) of Vegan MoFo posts this year. As it turns out? Not very well. Haphazardly at best. I tried using randommofo at first, but it seemed to run rather slow for me. (Though my own internet connection could very well be to blame; dog knows it’s seen better days.) Instead I used the blogroll at VeganMoFo to hop from blog to blog. Functional but not very efficient. Hopefully Shane can come up with something better for next year. (If you’re reading, Shane, get on it!)
So anyway, this list is as sad and scrappy as my Vegan MoFo travels – so feel free to add to it in the comments! Is there a recipe you’re itching to try? A blog whose theme had you loling? A post so epic that you just have to share? Do it! I’m afraid I missed out on way too much this year.
Even so, it was fun. Let’s do it again in ten months, shall we?
Recipes (aka, Kelly’s To-Do List)
Mo Betta Vegan represents with the bacon cheddar cheeseburger to end all bacon cheddar cheeseburgers (vegan or not!), lustily dedicated to the one, the only (well except for when he was cloned by a shapeshifter!), Dean Winchester. Mine looks like health food in comparison.
AfroVeganChick gave me a new way to use up some garden-fresh tomatoes (no small feat, considering how many years I’ve been growing them!): Warm Roasted Tomato & Spinach Pasta Salad. Now that I’m done with my Vegan MoFo cooking, this one is moving to the front of the queue!
Speaking of tomatoes, this Roasted Tomato Soup from Vegan Urbanite looks tasty as heck.
These Apple Butter Donut Holes sure would make history class more interesting.

I pretty much love everything Tuxedo Cat ate this month (we have the same taste in junk food!), but I’m especially intrigued by the No Mayo Potato Salad. So healthy I can eat it by the gallon!

Cooking from Bake and Destroy: Good Food for Bad Vegans (another one for the wishlist!), Jess at Get Sconed! put Shepherd’s Pie on a pizza. Yup, I’m definitely doing that.
I usually prefer cookies over cake, but I’d make an exception for this Double-Layer Chocolate Cake with Coffee Buttercream from hell yeah it’s vegan!.
This Smokey Sweet Potato Vegan Mac & Cheese might just be the perfect mac & cheese recipe for October!

Vegan Kitty Patrol did what I can only dream of: made vegan pierogies from scratch. If I could wish for one superpower, mad pierogi-making skills would be it.
Kelly at Vegan Kid came up with basically the most genius cupcake decorating idea ever: cookies on cupcakes! All the better to disguise my lack of frosting skills!
I am tempted to welcome autumn with a giant batch of Pumpkin Pretzel Bites & Smoky Maple Mustard.
Vegan Carbonara? You had me at “cheesy sauce”!
I can’t wait to class up my drive-in experience with these Chocolate & Peanut Popcorn Clusters from the Vegan Crew. Don’t worry, Rennie and Mags, I’ll still make a plain, air-popped batch just for you!
This Vegan Carrot & Cauliflower Mac & Cheese sounds like a mashup of a few of my favorite healthy (key word!) mac & cheese recipes. I’ll have to take a break from Betty Goes Vegan so I can cook from The Betty Crocker Project online!
The Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes from For Reals Life look out of this world. Like, literally. They’re so orange they’re practically nuclear!
The only thing better than BALLS? DEEP FRIED BALLS. I just like saying balls, okay.

A cauliflower-based alfredo sauce, y’all! Given how much I liked cauliflower in mac & cheese, I can’t wait to try it!
I imagine that Vegan Fatty Boombalatty’s (best blog name ever!) Chocolate Chip Caramel Bread Pudding tastes a lot like oven-baked french toast. In other words, awesome, must try, post haste.

I’m not usually a cupcake gal, but these “Granola Bar” Cupcakes sound fantastic. I suspect that Erin’s daughter might be a budding food genius.
In my annual race to use up as many apples as possible, I pretty much always neglect the other fruits in favor of this one fruit that just so happens to grown in my yard. conscientious cookie’s Peach Almond Crumble has me reconsidering this decision. (This one wasn’t part of Vegan MoFo per se, but I found it while VMF blog hopping, and that’s good enough for me!)

Tasty Planet tackles a “recipe urban legend” with a recipe for Vegan Crack Potatoes – with cheddar cheese AND ranch dressing! There go my pants.
The weather’s still a bit warm here, but I plan on breaking out some Chocolate Chai as soon as the thermometer dips below 50!

Joni Marie Newman killed it with a month of awesome giveaways (maybe I’m biased on accounta I won a copy of Whole Grain Vegan Baking? yay!), but my favorite post by far involved a recipe for Five Cheese Baked Macaroni and Cheese from Home-Cooked Vegan Comfort Food. I’d add this cookbook to my wishlist if it wasn’t already there.
Veganza made a batch of Blue Meth Cupcakes just in time for the Breaking Bad finale!
I was just thinking about making homemade Cracker Jacks, and there goes hell yeah it’s vegan! with a recipe. Score!
A Few of My Favorite Themes
Killer Bunnies blew my mind with a month of ice cream recipes! This helps to fill the void left by A Vegan Ice Cream Paradise, however temporarily. (Please come back AVICP! I need youuuuu!)
Vegan Yak Attack’s theme is one that will go down in the history books: Macaroni and Cheese. An entire month’s worth! I can’t even imagine how this went down, given how difficult it was for me to blog mac & cheese just once a week.
Rivaling Mac & Cheese Month/Mondays in pure epicness was The Taco Cleanse. Vegan MoFo may be over, but don’t despair! It’s never too late to embark upon a cleanse of your own. Check out Lazy Smurf’s The Hows and Whys of the Taco Cleanse for a brief primer, as well as the Lone Star State’s Reader Letters for some Dear Abbey-ish taco advice.
The Food Duo stole my Guido heart with a month of Italian food, starting with STROMBOLI! A cross between a sub and a calzone, it’s basically like pizza in handy carry case form.
Over at Seitan is My Motor, Mihl also did an alphabet theme – but with classic German desserts. That’s a lot of sugar, y’all!
Vegan Dinner and a Movie‘s theme was – what else? – dinner and a movie! I’m partial to the Ectoplasm Stay-Puft Cookies from Ghostbusters, seeing as I made something similar for Vegan MoFo VI. Also, the Stay Puft Marshmallow man rocks.
Katie at Don’t Eat Off The Sidewalk also did a movie theme, with its own hilarious-yet-weirdly creepy graphic: Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. The Goonies for the win! (Please tell me I’m the only ’80s kid who didn’t make her own treasure chest out of costume jewelry and polished aquarium stones!)
In the spirit of all these dinner and a movie themes, Peabrain & Nosewhistle gives us Walnut-Mushroom-Lentil Pate and Heathers. Hot Christian Slater, it has been way too long.
I totally did a mental “GET OUT!” when I saw Naked Vegan Lunch’s theme: Seinfeld! Childhood feelings, right? It’s hard to choose just one favorite post, but imma have to go with The Muffin Tops, because I am forever Elaine.
Speaking of ’90s sitcoms,Laughfrodisiac veganized Friends – including (wait for it) Rachel’s English Trifle. Between these two, I quickly found myself cursing Netflix for not having either of these old favorites on instant streaming. I need to get my Soup Nazi on, yo!
Herbivore Triathlete went all Game of Thrones on the internet. I don’t watch the show – more for lack of time than interest – but I’m a fan of their copious gifs on tumblr. And who doesn’t love a loaf of crusty fresh baked bread with a bowl of year-old soup?
My Apologies for the Novel did a week-long Parks & Recreation theme. Yes, there were calzones. OF COURSE there were calzones!
Vegan Eats & Treats got crazy adorable with her Noshtalgia “foods that remind me of people I love” theme. I think my favorite is Daddy’s Waffles with Pure Maple Syrup (not that my dad ever cooked us anything other than pizza toast!)…or maybe Rascal’s Cantaloupe, because I’m in that sentimental kind of mood lately.
Veg-am got playful with a Stuff, Wrap, and Roll theme. Naturally, there were calzones aplenty.
Tuxedo Cat visited Vegan Treats in Bethlehem and ate all the things. I am forever jealous.
A (soy) bean hit up the Cinnamon Snail food truck and bought all the things. Jealous times infinity.
Timeless Coffee: I want to go there. (And I gave up coffee more than a decade ago!)
JoJo at vegan.in.brighton has a pretty killer roundup of mac & cheese dishes that she’s enjoyed during her travels. I’d leave the house more often if I knew there was vegan mac & cheese out there waiting for me!
