This month’s comic book pre-orders are two good ones: Angel Catbird, Volume 1, by none other than Margaret Atwood, and Volume 2 of The Golden Compass: The Graphic Novel, adapted from my all-time favorite book/series.

2016-09-20 - The Supergirls - 0002 [flickr]

For review through Library Thing: The Supergirls: Feminism, Fantasy, and the History of Comic Book Heroines by Mike Madrid. The first edition’s been on my Amazon wishlist for ages, so I was pretty psyched when I saw that it’d been revised and updated.

I was lucky enough to win the “mystery box” from the Hachette Summer Reads sweepstakes, which included some pretty rad titles. Thanks guys!!!

2016-09-14 - Me-A Compendium - 0001 [flickr]

I got (yet another!) journal for review through Blogging for Books. Me: A Compendium is a super-cute journal with prompts for the kindergarten-to-third-grade set. I’m way too old, but I’m sure some kiddo at RBC will just love it!

2016-09-23 - Extraordinary Ordinary Moments - 0001 [flickr]

On the flip side, Jorey Hurley’s Extraordinary Ordinary Moments (also from Blogging for Books) is more my speed. I love that it’s larger than a mass market paperback and much easier to write in than many of Potter Style’s journals!

2016-08-31 - Pop Manga Coloring Book - 0002 [flickr]

Last one for review though Blogging for Books: my very first adult coloring book. Although, tbh, I’ll likely leave all the pages as-is: the artwork in Pop Manga Coloring Book is just perfect the way it is.

2016-09-23 - Levithan Wakes - 0001 [flickr]

From Hachette/Orbit, a copy of Leviathan Wakes (The Expanse #1) by James S.A. Corey. I had no idea it was adapted into a SyFy series! I’ll have to check it out.

2016-08-31 - The Other Boy - 0001 [flickr]

Surprise book mail from HarperCollins: The Other Boy by M.G. Hennessey. On bookshelves now!

2016-08-29 - A Shadow Bright & Burning - 0001 [flickr]

Last but not least, courtesy of Random House BFYR: A Shadow Bright and Burning by Jessica Cluess. Like many amazing books (The Female of the Species, hello!), this one also came out on 9/20!
