<p>BUAV chief executive Michelle Thew today sets out the case for ending experiments on primates in Europe on the Guardian Society website. The European Commission is currently revising the rules that govern animal experiments and is considering the case for ending experiments on non-human primates.</p>

Subject: BUAV strikes another legal blow to Government attempts to cover-up animal experiments&#8230;</p>
<p>In a landmark ruling on Wednesday, the Information Tribunal paved the way for much of the secrecy surrounding animal experiments in this country to be swept away.</p>
<p>The Tribunal ruled that the Government&#8217;s interpretation of what information about animal experiments should be withheld as confidential was too restrictive and legally wrong. This a major victory in the BUAV&#8217;s (British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection) long campaign to get the Government to be more open and transparent about the animal experiments it licenses in the UK to allow proper and informed public debate</p>
