The young female pit bull dragged behind a pickup truck into SEAACA’s parking lot on December 4 is recovering from her injuries…When she’s ready, her new forever home will be carefully chosen. In celebration of the new life before her, SEAACA staff has given the year-old dog formerly called Prada a fresh, more fitting name: Bluebell.

Los Angeles Assistant Fire Chief Glynn Johnson sits comfortably in his Riverside County home on paid administrative leave while the brutal beating of his neighbor’s 6-month-old puppy, Karley – which resulted in a crushed skull, dislocated eye, broken jaw, and broken nose – is being investigated.

The puppy had to be put down because of the degree of her suffering and the fact that she sustained permanent brain damage. The perp is claiming “self-defense” for his actions.

We are meeting at 2:00 P.M. on the corner of Washington St. and Van Buren Blvd. in Riverside County, CA 92504 on Saturday, November 15, 2008.

We asked food giant Hormel to terminate employees implicated in abuse and install video surveillance cameras at its contracted hog farms…after PETA’s undercover tapes exposed an Iowa farm battering pigs with metal rods, crushing piglets, and more. Since then, Greene County officials have charged some abusers seen in PETA’s video. EVERY TIME charges are filed in “livestock” abuse, this is a mini-victory in itself — since these animals are seen as commodities, not living creatures. Please thank officials for their action and urge them to follow through with arrest and prosecution.

THOSE CHARGED ARE (Source – Green County Sheriff’s Office):

– Jordan M. Anderson, 26, of Audubon, a former on-site manager: aiding and abetting livestock abuse-two counts, aggravated misdemeanor; and Livestock Neglect, one count, simple misdemeanor.

– Greg W. Hackler, 18, of Jefferson, a former employee: Livestock abuse, two counts, aggravated misdemeanor.

– Shawn M. Lyons, 35, of Bayard, still employed: Livestock neglect, one count, simple misdemeanor.

– Shelly A. Mauch, 34, of Scranton, still employed: Livestock neglect, one count, simple misdemeanor.

– Richard M. Ralston, 27, of Bayard, a former employee: Livestock abuse, five counts, aggravated misdemeanor.

FROM KINSHIP CIRCLE: In our UPDATES / AUG-OCT 2008 Newsletter for Kinship Circle Primary subscribers, we revealed the trial of notorious “Dogfighting Don” Floyd Boudreaux, 73, and his son Guy Boudreaux, 44 — arrested in 2005 (pre-Katrina) on 48 counts of dogfighting after Louisiana State Police seized 50+ pit bulls. Shockingly, the leaders of this dogfighting dynasty have since been CLEARED OF ALL CHARGES at their 10/15/08 trial!

10/15/08, LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — A state judge cleared a Broussard man and his son, who each faced more than 40 counts of dogfighting. Floyd Boudreaux, 73, and his son, Guy Boudreaux, 44, were arrested in March 2005 and charged with 48 counts of dogfighting after Louisiana State Police seized more than 50 pit bulls that they believed were being used for illegal dogfighting.

District Judge Kristian Earles granted a motion for acquittal, saying the state failed to provide substantial evidence that the men were involved in the illegal sport. The Boudreauxs had waived their rights to a jury trial, so the case was heard by Earles…
