Vegan Pierogi Party at My Place!!!

five out of five stars

So I’m a vegan. I also love pierogies. A bad combination, since pierogies are one of the few prepared convenience foods that haven’t yet received the full vegan treatment. Pre-made vegan pierogies can be difficult to find, and flavors made by mainstream brands that seem like they should be accidentally vegan – such as pierogies filled with potatoes and onions, or those that aren’t cheese-based – often aren’t.

Mrs. T’s takes the confusion to a whole new level. Most of its Potato and Onion Pierogies contain eggs. EXCEPT! The food service size is egg-free. Vegan, vegetarian, and Kosher to boot. The whole shebang. But just the food service size! These are the 48-count, 4.03-pound bags, which come packaged six to a case. UPC 041164008655. Amazon’s listing is rather short on the details, but you can find the nutritional information sheet on Mrs. T’s Food Service website.

At the time of this writing, the food service bags are only available in one grocery store chain on the East Coast (Wegmans recently discontinued them; I know because my mom works there, and used to send me care packages filled with my favorite ‘rogies!), and through FoodserviceDirect Inc., either on Amazon or directly on their website.

The day I found these pierogies listed on Amazon was the happiest of my life, perhaps second only to the day I brought my forever dog Kaylee home. I LOVE THEM THAT MUCH.
